We wanted a beach getaway for Spring Break this year. Allegiant has a direct flight from Appleton to Savannah, so we booked an ocean view balcony room at a resort in Hilton Head. The flight there went perfectly. We quickly picked up our rental car and drove to the Savannah Culver’s for lunch before taking the drive to the resort.
Hilton Head is a beautiful place, but very crowded. The city has codes that require the buildings to be faced with stone or brick, so even the Wal-Mart looks fancy. The food was excellent, and the walks on the beach were amazing. We saw a wedding from our balcony, and took a lot of walks.
We spent one day of the trip in Savannah, riding the trolley and visiting historic sites. We spent another day in Tybee Island, visiting a friend, a lighthouse, and a historic fort. We also spent a day at Harbour Town, which was really beautiful.
We saw Gators and Dolphins, ate crabcakes and hush puppies, and visited a local museum. We also shopped at the outlet mall.
The trip home didn’t go quite as smoothly. That’s for another post.
